Foundational Intelligence Lab

Orientation precedes intelligence.

Exidion researches foundational questions of learning, maturity and Human Drift, so future forms of intelligence can be understood before they are built into systems.

Status

Registered Swiss association based in Zurich. Tax-exempt status has been applied for and is not yet granted.

Purpose

Long-term, open foundational research into learning, maturity and human orientation under pressure.

Boundary

No commercial implementation, consulting arm, product development or exclusive access.

Why Exidion exists

We are missing orientation, not computation.

Highly capable systems can scale faster than their ability to understand what they are doing. Exidion focuses on the conditions that must be clarified before intelligence is delegated, automated or embedded into consequential systems.

Speed is not orientation.

More data, more models and more automation do not automatically create responsibility, judgement or clarity.

Ambiguity must be reduced.

Orientation is not certainty. It is the disciplined reduction of avoidable ambiguity before action.

Systems need maturity.

Future intelligence requires foundations for learning, maturity and decision integrity, not only optimization.

Research agenda

Five foundational fields, stated as questions.

The following fields define Exidion’s initial research agenda. They are not presented as validated results. They are the questions the association is being built to investigate openly, rigorously and over time.

01 / Learning

What is learning?

Exidion investigates learning beyond data absorption, performance improvement or behavioural adaptation: learning as a change in orientation, integration and responsibility.

Why it mattersWithout a sharper definition of learning, future intelligence risks optimizing outputs while inheriting shallow human patterns.

02 / Maturity criteria

Which criteria mark a maturity transition?

Current ego-development and maturity models are often qualitative. Exidion researches criteria, thresholds and observable transitions between maturity stages.

Why it mattersQuantifiable maturity criteria are a prerequisite for evaluating whether decision orientation becomes more integrated under pressure.

03 / Correlation fields

How do biases, motives and maturity levels interact?

The research explores how biases, motivational structures and maturity levels may correlate or reinforce each other in human decision-making.

Why it mattersThis helps explain why capable people and systems can make fragile decisions when pressure, ambiguity or incentives change.

04 / Human Drift

What is Human Drift?

Exidion investigates Human Drift as a foundational phenomenon: how human orientation, principle-binding, agency and responsibility can degrade under pressure while language and self-image remain intact.

Why it mattersFuture intelligence will inherit human patterns unless we understand how human judgement destabilizes under stress, dependency, scarcity or social pressure.

05 / Drift ontology

How can Human Drift patterns become observable?

Exidion’s foundational work is to define, distinguish and test Human Drift constructs as structured hypotheses — not to present them as a finished product model or validated instrument.

Why it mattersA careful ontology can make human drift discussable, reviewable and eventually testable before it is operationalized in any applied or commercial context.

Boundary note: these fields are foundational research questions. They do not create a software product, consulting offer, exclusive method transfer or commercial implementation path for Exidion.

Method

From hypothesis to public knowledge.

Exidion should be visibly rigorous without pretending that early research is already validated. The work must separate concept, hypothesis, work in progress and published finding.

01Define

Clarify terms, criteria, assumptions and boundaries before building models around them.

02Operationalize

Translate qualitative maturity and decision concepts into testable structures.

03Review

Expose assumptions to expert critique, comparison and methodological pressure.

04Publish

Make research outputs publicly accessible where legal, ethical and scientific conditions allow.

Research architecture

The work is foundational, but not vague.

Exidion’s research agenda needs to become precise enough to be challenged. The purpose is to move from language and intuition toward constructs that can be defined, reviewed, compared and eventually tested.

Layer 01

Human foundations

Clarify the underlying human questions: learning, maturity, agency, principle-binding, motivation, bias activation and orientation under pressure.

Layer 02

Observable criteria

Translate qualitative developmental and decision concepts into criteria, thresholds, markers and distinctions that can be examined by others.

Layer 03

Human Drift ontology

Define Human Drift patterns as structured hypotheses: what degrades, under which pressure conditions, through which mechanisms and with which observable signals.

Layer 04

Open research outputs

Prepare research notes, working papers, construct definitions and validation pathways that can later be published or reviewed without creating commercial exclusivity.

Governance and independence

Clear boundaries protect the research.

Exidion is not the commercial path for applied governance models, software, implementation or advisory services. Its role is foundational research for the public benefit.

1

Research questions, publication decisions and use of funds remain with the association’s responsible bodies.

2

No partner receives exclusive rights, privileged access or a commercial special position based on Exidion’s open research.

3

Pre-existing methods, frameworks and intellectual property developed before Exidion remain with their respective rightsholders.

4

If a future concrete use requires a license or other legal arrangement, it must be reviewed and documented separately before use.

Publications

Some things do not need acceleration. They need orientation.

No public Exidion research publications are listed yet. Future publications will be separated from concepts, hypotheses and work in progress. Published Exidion findings are intended to be openly accessible, subject to legal, data protection, safety and scientific quality considerations.

Support foundational research

Support the foundations before the applications.

Exidion is looking for funders, research institutions, labs and independent experts who understand why foundational work must remain open, rigorous and non-exclusive.

Funding

Enable long-term foundational research that is not reduced to immediate product outcomes.

Research collaboration

Contribute scientific critique, review capacity, datasets or methodological expertise.

Institutional support

Help build the research conditions, governance and publication discipline required for public-benefit work.

Start with a research conversation.

Collaborations must protect Exidion’s non-commercial purpose, independence and open-publication principles.

  • Appropriate: funding, expert review, research cooperation or institutional support.
  • Not appropriate: exclusive access, product delivery, consulting mandates or proprietary commercialization through Exidion.
